Her scholarship and leadership work span a variety of aspects of student success and academic achievement, including peer education strategies, student retention and completion initiatives, gateway course redesign and curriculum transformation, learning environment optimization, academic coaching methodologies, and high-impact educational practices. Katie has led the Gateway Course Redesign initiative for ten years, contributing significantly to WMU’s enhanced academic outcomes and student achievement rates. She routinely collaborates with faculty and staff across campus to implement evidence-based practices that support student learning and persistence.

Katie earned her M.A. in Higher Education Leadership from Western Michigan University, building upon her foundational degrees in English and Spanish Secondary Education. Katie’s research interests are focused on advancing innovative approaches to student support services and the development of comprehensive retention strategies that address the diverse needs of today’s college students.
