Privacy Statement

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Authorized employees within the John N. Gardner Institute for Excellence in Higher Education (Gardner Institute) use of any information collected from individual clients and institutional data is on a business-need-to-know basis. We constantly review our systems and data to ensure the best possible service to those we serve. We strive to comply fully with all applicable laws concerning the privacy of on-line communications. Offenses of unauthorized actions against the Gardner Institute computer systems and/or data will be investigated with a view to prosecuting and/or taking civil proceedings to recover damages against those responsible.

Confidentiality

The Gardner Institute provides protection to keep information and data private and confidential, and treats information and data confidentially. Data cannot be shared or sold with or to third parties except when information concerning the Client and their respective Client Records are required by the Gardner Institute and their business partners to provide a service, product, or resources requested by Client, or if legally required to do so to the appropriate authorities. Clients are requested to retain copies of any literature issued in relation to the provision of our services. Where appropriate, we shall issue Client’s with appropriate written information, handouts, or copies of records as part of an agreed contract for the benefit of both parties. We will not sell, share, or rent your personal information to any third party or use your e-mail address for unsolicited mail. Any emails sent by the Gardner Institute will only be in connection with Gardner Institute services and products.

FERPA and Confidentiality
The Gardner Institute and your institution have agreed that any personally identifiable information that is subject to the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) will be kept confidential and will be handled in accordance with the requirements of FERPA. Institutions participating in specific Gardner Institute processes will upload student-level data to their institution-specific platform that supports their work for purposes of analysis, generating reports, and being able to take advantage of project platform functionalities to analyze data to support the projects and advisor services. Student-level data will be uploaded by using an anonymous query ID generated by the originating institution for which only the institution will hold a key. The purpose for sharing this anonymized student data is directly associated with educational improvement and has educational benefit for the institution and its students.

The Gardner Institute has no interest in collecting any social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, credit card numbers, or other highly sensitive information associated with any individual student, staff, or faculty member participating in any of this work. For this reason, the Gardner Institute highly recommends that institutions refrain from using any such information as an identifier for any of its students, staff, or faculty. The Gardner Institute provides security features and protocols to protect your institution’s data and the privacy of those who study and work there. It is your institution’s responsibility to adhere to these protocols.

    Data Subject Request Form – Policy and Procedure

    The Gardner Institute respects and believes in the rights of users to obtain a record of all personal data held by Gardner Institute. Submission of the following form constitutes both a legal and ethical charge to the Gardner Institute to generate a record of all personal data held by the submitter based on information provided, free of charge and in a timely manner.

    Instead of or in addition to this form you may email data@gardnerinstitute.org with a record request or information request about Gardner Institute’s data protection policies and procedures. After a request has been submitted you may be contacted by a Gardner Institute staff member to verify the authenticity of the request.

     The Gardner Institute reserves the right to request additional information to verify the identity of the requester.
