Brevard, NC, May 21, 2025 –
At the John N. Gardner Institute for Excellence in Higher Education (Gardner Institute), we believe leadership is rooted in purpose, innovation, and a commitment to transforming institutions and systems so every student can thrive. This is our Transformation Vision. As we grow, we’re excited to celebrate those whose creativity and dedication help advance this vision.
The Gardner Institute is thrilled to announce the promotion of Kristen Trader to Director of Program Design, effective May 1, 2025.
“Kristen’s promotion to Director of Program Design is both a recognition of her remarkable talent and a commitment to the future of our Transformation Vision,” Andrew (Drew) Koch, Gardner Institute Chief Executive Officer. “Her thoughtful, learner-centered approach to design has already elevated our work – and now she will help shape and scale the programs that bring institutional transformation to life. We are fortunate to have her leading this next phase of development.”
Since joining the Gardner Institute in 2023, Kristen has been a vital contributor to advancing our Transformation Vision—the intentional, systemic work of redesigning institutional structures so every student can thrive. As an instructional designer, she has brought coherence, creativity, and strategic focus to the development of learning experiences that empower institutions to pursue lasting, equity-focused change.
In her new role, Kristen will be responsible for leading and growing programmatic development at the Institute. We are confident that her leadership and expertise will bring even greater success to the Gardner Institute.
“Institutional transformation is a complex process that requires thoughtful, robust support. I’m honored to move into a role where I can help the Gardner Institute draw from over 25 years of expertise in student success to create a seamless, human-centered experience for our institutional partners.” – Kristen Trader
As we expand our reach and deepen our mission, we’re committed to elevating those who lead with purpose, because that’s how real, lasting change happens.
Stay tuned as we continue to spotlight the people who power our purpose.
